Dancer/Choreographer KAYLIANI SOOD has been invited to curate an evening of dance for PDP’s DANCE UP CLOSE ’25. She will present a duet “Jumper Cables” created with dancer ALLISON SMITH, accompanied by drummer STEVE PERRY.
“Jumper Cables” is a dance of energetic extremes. The dancers weave a narrative of resilience through the mouthpiece of postmodern, house and breaking. Unornamented athleticism characterizes their jumps, gestures, and floorwork. They labor with one another alongside the live percussion of Steven Perry. Jumper Cables is a practice that pursues a sense of aliveness that exists at the edges of physical capacity.
Featured on the same program are dancers OREOLUWA BADAKI, ANNA MARTONE & JONATHAN VAN ARNEMAN and drummers
ASSUMANE SILLA and JONATHAN DELGADO in their collaborative work “Seed & Sound” exploring diasporic roots that draw on moves in West African neo-traditional dance, House, and contemporary dance,
