Anandibai: A Night of Music for a Philadelphia Icon

March 28 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Anandibai: A Night of Music for a Philadelphia Icon
Join us for a powerful evening of music and storytelling inspired by Anandibai Joshee—a trailblazing Philadelphia icon and the first South Asian woman to become a physician.
Featuring new music and performances by Devi MajeskePan VMaya KerenAnju, and Dwight Dunston aka Duns.

In 1883, at a time when it was rare for women to learn to read and write, much less attend university, Anandibai traveled from India to Philadelphia by herself at the age of 18 to study at the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania.

Anandibai’s extraordinary life, resilience, defiance of societal limitations, and commitment to serving others make her a true Philadelphia icon.

Celebrate America 250 with a story you won’t hear anywhere else!
