Join us as we traverse across Old City to visit the African American Museum in Philadelphia. Together, we will view their two current exhibitions: Audacious Freedom & Portals + Revelations. You can walk over with everyone from Christ Church or meet the group at the African American Museum at 7th and Arch Streets at 11:30AM.
Audacious Freedom: African Americans in Philadelphia 1776 – 1876, recounts the stories of and contributions made by people of African descent in Philadelphia during the tumultuous years following the founding of our nation. Through this exhibit visitors will learn who the people were, how they lived and worked, and their unheralded impact on our nation.
Portals + Revelations explores the artist’s creative evolution during his time as AAMP’s artist-in-residence, spotlighting mixed media, abstraction, and assemblage- lesser known but powerful aspects of his practice. The exhibition forges an ancestral link between past, present and future, while transforming the ordinary into the sublime.
