DESCRIPTION:Dancer/Choreographer KAYLIANI SOOD has been invited to curate an evening of dance for PDP’s DANCE UP CLOSE ’25.  She will present a duet “Jumper Cables” created with dancer ALLISON SMITH\, accompanied by drummer STEVE PERRY. \n“Jumper Cables” is a dance of energetic extremes. The dancers  weave a narrative of resilience through the mouthpiece of postmodern\, house and breaking. Unornamented athleticism characterizes their jumps\, gestures\, and floorwork. Blending real world engineering and science with creative lore and clever illusions\, these inventions are inspired by science fiction and by Pig Iron’s upcoming “alternative universe adventure play\,” Franklin’s Key. \nThe small-scale World’s Fair-style expo will take place from 12pm-4pm\, April 5\, 2025\, featuring booths that showcase each invention and sci-fi narrative. \nWith special musical guests: Aria Fiorillo and The Paul Green Rock Academy\nAt 12pm\, join us for live performances from concert harpist Aria Fiorillo! \nAt 3pm\, The Paul Green School of Rock will perform a set of songs by the Talking Heads! \nThis project is a collaboration with Max Lawrence’s engineering class at SLA Beeber and Pig Iron Theatre Company\, in anticipation of Pig Iron’s world premiere of Franklin’s Key. Learn more about Franklin’s Key here.

DESCRIPTION:CHLOE MARIE is choreographing….on dancers she has collaborated with\, in their and in others’ works. A Philly all-star crew includes Alex Brazinski\, Tammy Carrasco\, Amalia Colón-Nava\, Alexis Curiel\, Marisa Illingsworth\, Chelsea Murphy\, Dylan Smythe\, Kayliani Sood\, and Arien Wilkerson.  Composer Lee Clarke is creating the score.  Chloe Marie says: Each of these individuals has provided an incredibly beautiful lens into what the expansiveness of being able to work inside of translating one’s dreams can look like. I am inspired\, empowered\, and excited to create a work on these individuals…Every interaction with these individuals has come at a point of my life which impacted my artistic practice in extremely deep ways.”
